(LPAN)On July 28, 2026, the Military Science and History Department organized a consultative meeting to review the draft design for the renovation project of the China Cave in Viengxay District, Houaphanh Province. The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General Dr. Khvanming Bidasack, Head of the Military Science and History Department. Attendees included the Vice President of APB Company, representatives from the External Relations Department, Finance Department, Kaysone Phomvihane Museum Department, the project steering committee, and other relevant sectors.
During the meeting, Captain Phoutthavan Keobounkham, a technical officer from the Construction and Property Management Department under the General Logistics Department, presented the renovation design comprising 13 key activities.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Dr. Khvanming Bidasack emphasized that this renovation contributes significantly to recording the historical relations between Laos and China, particularly between their two armed forces during the national liberation struggle and subsequent periods of cooperation. He noted that restoring the China Cave goes beyond preserving a historical monument—it serves to maintain and further solidify the bond between the two nations and their militaries.
Given its importance, he instructed relevant teams to continue collecting evidence from historical witnesses, conduct on-site field visits, maintain coordination with the Defense Attaché Office of the Chinese Embassy to the Lao PDR, and direct the construction team to complete survey data, produce 3D renderings, and design full utility systems (water and electricity) without altering original structures. He stressed the importance of creating an impactful impression for visitors while preserving historical authenticity, completing initial documentation, and submitting formal reports to higher authorities.
Participants also actively contributed additional comments and suggestions to finalize the project plans.
