MOD announces promotion rank to Senior Military Officers

(LPAN) On August 14, 2026, the Ministry of National Defense (MOD) held a ceremony to announced the promotion rank to Senior Military Officers from Colonel to Brigadier General. The event was chaired by, Gen. Khamleng Uthakaisone, Minister of National Defense, with leaders from 4 major departments, officers, combatants, and related sections participate in.
Dr. Mrs. Vilay Pilavong, Deputy Director of the Department of Personnel Management of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Committee passed the agreement of the Presidential Decree of the Lao PDR on the promotion of senior military officers. The Presidential issued a decree approving the 20 military officers newly promoted Colonel to Brigadier General.
This occasion, the president expressed his deep appreciation and highlighted several significant challenges to the newly promoted officers, and also emphasizing them to uphold their responsibilities in their respective field, as a good model in performing their duties, and continue training themselves to possess strong political qualities, contribute significantly to develop their units, and complete the political tasks assigned and to fulfill political duties in the new period.
