(LPAN) From September 07–09, 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense of the Lao PDR, led by Maj. Gen. Phaivan Chanthaphomma, Head of Political Office of the Ministry of National Defense (HPOMOD), attended the 15th Seoul Defense Dialogue (SDD) 2026, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ahn Gyu-back, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea, and attended by delegates from regional and international countries.
The dialogue served as an important platform for high-level leaders from around the world to exchange views and discuss pressing military and non-military security issues facing the international community. Key topics included international cooperation stability, maritime law risks and response mechanisms, technological advancements reshaping warfare, and national defense strategies combined with international solidarity for recovery and restoration.
In light of these challenges, the forum emphasized the need for closer international cooperation and effective problem-solving through information exchange, coordination, and multi-level consultations, thereby making a significant contribution to maintaining peace, stability, and security at both regional and global levels.
