TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Ground Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) targeted the positions of the "terrorist separatist groups" in the Iraqi Kurdistan region in a large-scale military operation, official news agency IRNA reported on Monday. The IRGC's Ground Force pounded the positions of the "terrorist separatist groups" in the Kurdistan region using missiles and combat drones, said the report. Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the IRGC Ground Force, said the forces only targeted those "terror" groups' positions that were not in proximity to civilian-populated areas, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. He added the positions were targeted by missiles and suicide combat drones, noting that artillery attacks were carried out to pound positions based in border areas. The IRGC announced in a statement in late September that it had launched missile strikes against the "separatist and terror" groups' positions in the Kurdistan region. The statement added the operations will continue "decisively" until the threats posed by the "terror groups" are effectively eliminated, and their positions are destroyed.
