Bali 16 Nov, (Xinhua)-- Chinese President Xi Jinping called for more cooperation in digital transformation and developing the digital economy in his address to the third session of the 17th Group of 20 (G20) Leaders' Summit in Bali, Indonesia. Xi pointed out that the expansion of digital economy and the acceleration of global digital transformation now have become an important factor to influence the global economic landscape, as reported by CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS. The G20 Hangzhou Summit hosted by China in 2016 put the digital economy on the G20 agenda for the first time, proposing to break a new trail for innovative growth and generate new growth momentum, Xi said. In recent years, the G20 has forged more consensus and promoted more cooperation in adapting to the digital transformation and developing the digital economy, Xi said, and then expressed his hope for all parties to stimulate the vitality of digital cooperation, so that the fruits of digital economic development can benefit the people of all countries. Chinese President offered to G20 countries to uphold multilateralism and strengthen international cooperation. Countries should jointly foster an open, inclusive, fair, just and non-discriminatory environment for the development of the digital economy, advance international cooperation in digital industrialization and industrial digitization, and unleash the potential of the digital economy to drive global growth. It will benefit no one and run counter to the common interests of the international community to build "a small yard with high fences" to restrict or hinder scientific and technological cooperation, Xi said. Xi also proposed to persist in giving priority to development and bridge the digital divide. Countries should join hands to promote connectivity in the digital age, take effective measures to enhance digital skills and literacy of all people, and in particular help developing countries and vulnerable groups to join the digital wave and bridge the digital divide. China has launched the Digital Silk Road and made the digital economy a priority area of cooperation in the Global Development Initiative, looking forward to cooperating with all parties in this regard, Xi said. The President then offered to promote innovation-driven post-pandemic recovery. China has proposed the G20 Action on Digital Innovation and Cooperation, aiming to promote the innovative application of digital technologies and ensure the fruits of innovation will be shared by all, which is open to all parties. China will continue to work with G20 countries to build a global digital economy featuring balance, coordination and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation and common prosperity for all, Xi said.
